The Association of Municipalities for Independence (Catalan language: Associació de Municipis per la Independència) is a Catalan organization of local entities created with the objective to promote the right of self-determination of Catalonia. This entitiy was born in December, 14 of 2011 in the city of Vic. Nowadays it has the support of over 700 entities, 670 of them being municipal governments elected in 2011. Catalonia is divided into 947 municipalities, 41 regions and 4 provinces. Two provinces and 28 regional governmens also give support to the associaton.
